Child Model Look-A-Likes For Malia and Sasha Hard to Find?

Madison Avenue is scrambling to adjust to a new era, when the most admired people in America are a black family. To reflect this reality, talent scouts are on the hunt for models who look like the Obama children, Sasha, 7, and Malia, 10. “People are looking for girls who resemble them,” says Charlie Winfield, the head booker at FunnyFace Today. Tali Lev, an agent with the Gilla Roos agency, keeps links to her “Sasha” and “Malia” model lists on her desktop for easy access. “Photographers even want them for their portfolios.” Marlene Wallach, president of Wilhelmina Kids & Teens, says the First Daughters are tough subjects to match. “It’s a very specific age and a very specific ethnicity, so there aren’t that many girls that would necessarily fit the bill.”

Or is it just that modeling agencies haven’t been judicious in hiring on black and brown child clients seeing them as unable to pull down as many dollars as their tow-headed counterparts? Because, um, I got some playgrounds across America I could point them out to if they’re looking for cute little black girls.

Hell, I got some relatives. Call me!

    That’s complete bullshit. I see them everywhere I have been. They live in Prince George’s County, Columbia, Maryland, Southwest Atlanta and Decatur, Fayetteville, Missouri City, Fort Greene, Prospect Park, Westchester and White Plains, etc. I would imagine there are lots of them in Los Angeles too. Maybe they don’t know what look they are looking for in the natural hair or straightened looks and are confused. That would seem to be the one thing that would clip and befuddle other nationalities about the looks of Malia and Sasha. White People and Asians and even Hispanics usually wear their hair the same that when archived, their hair doesn’t change drastically. I bet they don’t know how to talk and question about the various hairstyles of the girls that give them different looks.Their straight hair looks send a message as well as their natural hair looks send a message. Maybe they need the Obamas to tell them what is the message and they are confused to admit they are confused. Natural hair sends a message that is sometimes ambiguious when the class of the person is middle. Straight hair is usually more affirming to Whites of their desired assumption.They are telling on themselves in volumes. They one are not looking in the right places. They can go to any mall in any country of any major city or suburb and find these clones. I see them everywhere in every major city and for Madison Avenue to be in NY, they need to cross the Brooklyn Bridge and simply go to the Target in Fort Greene. The people are beautiful in Brooklyn and in Harlem.

    Dayum, I tire of mainstream media’s relentless attempts to divorce the First Family from black folks en masse. "Special ethnicity", huh? Is that code for "let’s pretend that we can’t find pretty little black girls like Sasha and Malia because clearly, little black girls aren’t "pretty" unless they have white grandmothers"? Perhaps if the ad agencies removed the stereotypical blinders that apparently hinder them from truly seeing black American children, they might see that the African American community is full of beautiful little "Sashas and Malias". I sense, however, that the underlying meme being pushed here is a not-so-subtle attempt to distance Sasha and Malia from the black community by labelling them as something "Other" and "exotic". As always, white supremacy continues to rear its ugly head.

    Gross, gross and super gross. I don’t know what’s worse that being a little black girl is now en vogue or the fact that madison avenue is now trying to cash in on the Malia and Sasha craze. Special ethnicity means bi-racial or mixed; geesh do they treat treat us like pedigree dogs or what. Not fitting the bill = too black!! Michelle better put the kabosh on this one.

    There are a lot of little black girls that look like them that are all black. Some black girls who aren’t even mixed look more mixed than they do, so I don’t get this "special ethnicity" crap.

I guarantee that she hasn’t looked very hard. The Obama girls have forced Madison Avenue to admit what "we" have already known for years..that little black girls are beautiful 🙂 That is the beauty of the Obama family in general, is that they are causing quite a stir in terms of how white America sees black people and how we see ourselves.

    We always seem to have some foolish person who can’t deal with our beauty. this was true when the highest paid model was a black womyn and it is still true now. Madison avenue now uses black womyn but as mates or companions to white men in ads. The media is the message is an old saying and yet we still don’t understand that until we control the images, we will be pawns…
