British Prime Minister Gordon Brown and his wife, Sarah, popped in at the White House Tuesday. Pundits say our fair Brownie wanted a joint, stand-up, photo-op press conference. You know? Like the good-feelie kind Georgie used to give ol’ Tony Blair. He just needed a little of that more than 60 percent approval rating, hopey changey magic pixie dust, you know?
But Brown had to settle for sitting in some throne chairs like some chump. Like he was some random Middle Eastern oil sheik or something. Will the indignities ever end?
But who cares? Sarah and Michelle got to meet, which gave me yet another excuse to put up a picture of Michelle this Tuesday.
Mrs. Brown and Mrs. Obama shared pleasantries and gifts.
The Prime Minister’s wife talked for more than an hour with Mrs Obama, the First Lady, in the East Wing of the White House.
She personally gave the gifts to the President’s daughters Malia, 10 and Sasha, 7.
Mrs Brown, a fan of affordable high street fashion, recently wore a £7 beret to an official engagement with her husband.
The Prime Minister’s wife also gave the girls children’s books by British authors.
In return, Mrs Obama presented Mrs Brown with a model of the Presidential helicopter Marine One to give to her two boys Fraser and John.
