For The Actual Snobs: How To Be A Socialite

Zoe Kravitz and Genevieve JonesThe folks at The Fashion Bomb were so kind to put together a primer on how to be a proper socialite for aspiring socialite snobs. How sweet of them! Teaching you everything from having a proper “ladies who lunch” outfit to perfecting your most apathetic looks, the post is both hilarious and hilariously informative.

For example, their lesson on how to “perfect your blasé stare:”

Practice diligently in the mirror, thinking thoughts like “I could so be on Roberto Cavalli’s yacht right now” or “Woe is me: another front row seat at Zac Posen.” The stare is all about projecting “I have better things to do but sure, I’ll indulge you and take a photo.” Then, of course, secretly scour socialite photog sites, like Patrick McMullan and New York Social Diary, the next day to see if you’ve got it down like Zoe and Genevieve Jones.

I love Zoe’s outfit in that pic, especially her boots.

Okay I got the. "Whatever. I could have been doing something so much better than being here" look and the "I’m only pretending to have a good time so I can look good for the cameras and the hosts" look down pack along with the manners. Just need to make a few wardrobe changes and I’ll be socialite status ready. 🙂

Does Genevieve Jones actually do anything?

  4. Hmm… I need me a socialite name. I gotta keep up with the likes of Prudence Solomon Inzerillo and Grace Hightower De Niro. Loved those lunch outfits!

  7. How did Ms. Jones become a high end designer of jewelry? Does she have a fashion background?

I just want to iterate the ignorance of the. Kansas Representative, Lynn Jenkins. The great white hope? OMG Good luck! I jguess they just don’t get it, do they?? That hope is for the hopeless. How dare she make such a racist statement. Haven’t we seen it all before though…in Laura Ingram, Anne Coulter, Laura Bush, Lynn Cheney, and Campbell Brown to name a few. Let them take a seat and as before let the real women step up. We ARE the ones with the degrees, the common sense, and the knowledge and acumen to make a difference. Just ask Michelle, Oprah, Mya, me and you, and the rest of us who have had to tow the line for decades and who know how and what to do to raise families, survive, and make a difference in the world. My mom and yours, would also be on that list! The great white hope….that time has come and gone. Now the hope lies in a diverse population!
